Menopause

Menopause

Menopause is a time of profound change in a woman’s life.

Many may experience uncomfortable health and emotional symptoms.

In Chinese Medicine, menopause is called the Second Spring, as menopause can also bring about fulfilling life changes and a richer and contented life.

Perimenopause

In our 40’s we often experience perimenopause. We may skip periods or heavy periods, ovulate infrequently, experience mood fluctuations. These symptoms may go on for years. It is a sign of hormonal deficiency.

Symptoms of hormonal deficiency and imbalance including hot flushes, heavy periods, irregular periods, mood swings, quick to anger, anxiety, sleeping issues and fatigue can be so disruptive to the quality of your life.

All these symptoms are messages to let us know the body is in need of some help. Sometimes adjustments to your lifestyle are all you need – a slower pace, more rest, a change of diet.

However other times you may need some help and guidance to help your body balance again. Chinese medicine has a long history in women’s health and is a great place to start if you are interested in addressing your health concerns naturally and proactively.

If you are suffering, please book a consultation to discuss your treatment options. This may include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, dietary therapy, yoga and lifestyle choices.

Menopause

Menopause is a completely natural experience in a woman’s life. It is simply the cessation of your monthly moon. Your period. Your menstruation. And for some lucky women that is all they experience.

For many other women it can be a traumatic upheaval in their lives full of debilitating physical symptoms, shocking emotional swings, a loss of womanhood and the feeling of being invisible. The amount of times I have heard – nobody prepared me for the changes I would experience.

Whether you experience symptoms or not the menopause is a transition. A lot of things change in our body and it is wise to look holistically on how to improve our future health as we go through the menopause into post menopause.

Yet there is so much Chinese medicine can do to help with your transition through menopause whether you chose to take HRT or not.

Menopause is the transition from being fertile to being the wise elder. You don’t need to lose your libido or sexuality; you don’t need to suffer the hot flushes or power flushes as some women call them. You can sleep peacefully and prevent dryness.

There are ways to relieve the symptoms of menopause you experience. Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture are medicines of longevity. At Mei Hua Chinese Medicine Clinic, you will learn how you can experience your menopausal years with grace and vitality.

And yes! You can take Chinese herbs with HRT!

Menopause yoga is a new offering at Mei Hua Clinic. However it is only offered online. Menopause yoga is specifically designed to help women with common complaints during the menopause transition from perimenopause all the way through to our post menopausal years.
